Following
a successful pilot scheme during 2005, Community Action Halfway Home is now offering a dedicated service for adults between
16 and 65 who are experiencing Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
and Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Information and support will also be available for carers.
The
OCD service will provide one-to-one support, group support and support for carers.
The
OCD service can be accessed by completing a referral form (self-referrals will be considered) and returning it to Halfway.
If a person appears to be eligible for support, we will conduct a brief assessment to determine whether the service is appropriate,
and if so offer one-to-one or group support (time scales may be affected by availability).
The
OCD service has been planned to run in blocks of 3-4 months, followed by a break for review and evaluation.
The
project workers will operate under supervision from clinical psychology practitioners, and where appropriate will try to assist
in accessing other mental health support.
There
will be OCD related literature available for service users at the office.
